Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software for our API-first financial platform.
• Collaborate with product and client-success teams to create a world-class user experience.
• Scale our platform to handle the needs of our growing user base.
• Review architecture and code to ensure high quality outcomes.
• Apply a UNIX philosophy to build small, modular, and reusable code.
• Build meta-programming tools to help our team increase efficiency and reduce errors.
• Maintain a culture of engineering excellence.

Must Haves

• 3+ years of experience in PostgreSQL with functions and triggers.
• Experience using row-level security.
• Strong coding experience in at least one of Node.js, Python, Go, Rust, Perl.
• Familiarity with GraphQL.
• Ability to work at the UNIX command line.
• Knowledge of Git and GitHub.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Robust opinions and willingness to disagree and learn.
• Comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration during product development.

Big Pluses

• Experience with PostGraphile.
• Familiarity with functional programming.
• Exposure to FreeBSD.
• Experience with HoneySQL or similar.

• This role is about database coding, not DB admin. This is not a job for someone familiar with writing queries alone. You should have designed and implemented PostgreSQL schemas that use functions and triggers. Even better if they used row-level security. You will write and review PostgreSQL code to extend the rich set of layered schemas that make up our back-end application.
